A vernal pool...
This vernal pool is located about 750 feet above sea level
on the northern slope above the Bennett's Pond. A vernal pool
is a unique and important resource which provides habitat
to amphibians in the spring. The pool dries up in the summer,
ensuring it will not be home to fish life which would kill off
the amphibians. Vernal pools occur throughout the property.
